Detailed description
Seven Wonders of the World - The Great Pyramids of Giza
A unique gold coin, issued by the Solomon Islands for the year 2026 in a purity of 99.9% gold and weighing 100 g, is part of the Seven Wonders of the World series. The Pyramids of Giza were chosen as the third coin in the entire collection.
On its reverse, the coin depicts a view of a monumental pyramid emerging from the center of the entire composition, against the background of which the sun's rays diverge. In the foreground of the motif is depicted the entrance temple flanked by columns and statues of Egyptian guardians in traditional clothing. The illusion of depth of the image is created by a four-layered engraving. The resulting perspective thus creates a realistic image in a larger-than-life size. The motif is complemented by the series logo "7 WONDERS" and the name of the coin "GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA" in the upper part. The lower part indicates the year of issue "2026".
The Pyramids of Giza are the oldest and only surviving of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. They are located on the outskirts of modern-day Cairo and were built as monumental tombs for the Egyptian pharaohs of the 4th Dynasty. The largest of them, the Great Pyramid of Khufu, was built around 2560 BC and was the tallest structure in the world for thousands of years.
The construction of the pyramids is still a fascinating testament to the mastery of the ancient Egyptians. They were built from huge limestone blocks, each weighing several tons. Their precise orientation according to the cardinal points and perfect geometry amaze even modern scientists.
In addition to the Great Pyramid, there are also the pyramids of the pharaohs Rachef and Menkaure, which form the iconic image of Giza, along with the famous Great Sphinx - a stone statue with the body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh.
The obverse depicts a portrait of King Charles III. by Dan Thorne along with the author's initials "DT", surrounded by the inscriptions "CHARLES III", "SOLOMON ISLANDS", the face value and the weight and fineness of the metal.
The coin comes in an original collector's box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity, in an extremely limited edition of only 47 pieces worldwide!
