Detailed description
RAZITKO_POSTOVNE_ZDARMA_NENI
Original coin with original decoration and original denomination
The Royal Mail Steamer Titanic was an ocean liner designed for passenger service between England and the United States. It made its maiden voyage with 1,300 passengers and 900 crew members on board. However, the White Star Line's luxury liner, thought to be unsinkable, struck an iceberg during its maiden voyage and sank on the night of 14-15 April 1912. Only 700 people survived. The silver coin, minted under New Zealand licence, features on the obverse side the image of the Titanic sailing through the sea with ice floes protruding from it.
The composition is completed by a portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth, the denomination of 2012 cents and the name of the country New Zealand. The background of this side of the coin is processed in a colourful stained-glass manner using a new element - colouring. The reverse side features a composition consisting of objects fished from the sea - a compass, a ship's ticket and a bell. The years 1912 and 2012 and the bilingual inscription around the perimeter of the coin express the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's destruction. It is not without interest that this is a valid denomination coin in New Zealand.
