Detailed description
35th Anniversary of the Silver Eagle Coin
An exclusive 1 Oz silver coin issued by the US Mint in 2021 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the first issue of the American Eagle silver investment coin. The coin is encased in a 2 oz (62.2 g) silver ingot struck in Proof quality using new anti-counterfeiting technologies. Both the coin and the ingot are of the purest 99.9% silver purity.
The coin bears the traditional "Walking Liberty" motif on its obverse, designed by Adolph A. Weinman. Allegorically embodying Liberty walking into the sunrise. She is dressed in a flowing robe of stars and stripes. In her arms she carries olive and oak branches representing civilian and military glory. The hand stretched forward expresses the surrender of the spirit of freedom to the new tomorrows. This design was struck on silver half dollars from 1916 to 1947 and on silver American Eagle investment coins from 1986. The design includes the inscriptions "LIBERTY", the official U.S. motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year of issue "2021".
The obverse of the coin depicts a bald eagle flying with an olive branch over the snow-capped peaks of a majestic mountain range. A decorative ribbon bearing the national motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' ('Out of many, one') emerges from the rim of the inserted coin. At the top, the weight and fineness of the ingot are given as '2 OZ AG 999'. The field at the lower edge gives the description of the anniversary '35 the ANNIVERSARY OF THE SILVER EAGLE COIN' and the individual number at the right edge. In addition to the serial number, the ingot contains other security features to prevent counterfeiting. The structure of the long feathers on the bird's wing hides the repeating micro-text "LIBERTY" and the background is covered with fine radial lines.
The reverse side of the coin features a new design by American artist Emily Damstra. It depicts a realistic likeness of a bald eagle with its wings outstretched before landing. The bird of prey clutches an oak branch in its talons as if to add it to its nest. The description of the coin includes the name of the country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the face value "ONE DOLLAR", the weight "1 OZ FINE SILVER" and the motto of the USA "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
The reverse of the ingot is intertwined with the coin in the detail of the eagle's wing. The oak twig element is repeated in its upper and lower right corners. The part on the left depicts the Capitol building from a lateral perspective. Above it are inscriptions describing the anniversary "35 the ANNIVERSARY" and, in two lines, the years "1986" and "2021." The background consists of radial lines, which are both an aesthetic and security element against forgery. The edge is partly flanked by fifty five-pointed stars symbolising the number of the State of the Union.
The coin and ingot are housed in an elegant box with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 3,500 pieces for the whole world!
