An exclusive set of 6 gold coins issued by the Cook Islands Treasury in 2008 is dedicated to the most famous sailing ships of the twentieth century. Each coin depicts a sailing ship at sea on its reverse with a portrait of the ship's owner or captain. The coins feature the following ships: the Norwegian - Christian Radich, the German - Preussen - Carl Laeisz, the Kruzenshtern - Adam Johann von Krusenstern, the Russian - Sedov - Georgyi Sedov, the American - Thomas W. Lawson and the French - France II - Victor Lagniel. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley and the face value.
The coins are supplied in a luxury gift case along with a numbered certificate of authenticity and illustrated booklet in a limited edition of only 1000 pieces for the whole world!
