Detailed description

Wonders of Australia - The Outback 2026 1oz Gold Proof Opal

A unique gold coin, issued by the Perth Mint in 2026, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g) and with a purity of 99,99% gold, celebrates the breathtaking natural beauty of the Australian outback and its wildlife with a center made of genuine opal.

The reverse of the coin depicts a bright sun shining at the top illuminating the rock formations and grasses of the Australian outback, which is inhabited by its most famous animals - the Dingo, Python, Wolf Spider, Rabbit Bandicoot, Quail Pigeon, Giant Monitor Lizard, Australian Jackass, Desert Tree Frog, Rock Wallaby and Brown Emu. The circular center is made of a natural opal insert. The design is completed by the mint mark “P”, the initials of the designer Jennifer McKenna “JM”, the year of issue and the weight and fineness of the metal.

The Australian outback, known as the Outback, is a harsh and fascinating landscape full of endless plains, red sand and scorching sun. The dominant feature of this area is the iconic Uluru rock, a sacred place for the indigenous people. The Outback is sparsely populated, life here is determined by extreme conditions, drought and vast distances. Yet it has a unique charm of freedom, silence and untamed nature.

Australian opals are among the most beautiful in the world and are famous for their unique play of colours that change depending on the light. The most famous deposits are in areas such as Coober Pedy or Lightning Ridge, where rare black opals are mined. These gems were formed over millions of years and still fascinate collectors and jewelers with their originality and unique appearance.

The obverse bears the motif of King Charles III in its centre. with the initials of the author Dan Thorne "DT" and radial lines in the background. The coin's rim is made up of the inscriptions "CHARLES III", "AUSTRALIA" and the denomination "100 DOLLARS".

The coin is placed in a wooden presentation box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity, in a limited edition of only 200 pieces worldwide!
